Shanghai steps up precautionary measures to curb spread of Wuhan virus

As the Wuhan coronavirus spreads, other cities in China have stepped up precautionary measures. Shanghai, the largest Chinese city by urban population, has said it “will spare no effort in curbing the spread of the virus by tracking suspected infections”. To date, the city of 26 million has nine confirmed cases and 10 suspected cases. At key transport nodes such as Hongqiao Railway Station, there were no trace of temperature screening measures. Netizens have expressed disappointment that there are no temperature checks at airports, railway stations and bus stations. The city had announced on Jan 21 that a special taskforce had been set up to cope with the coronavirus.
